Art for Social Change,

Garden of Hope
Initially it felt impossible to create something that accurately addressed such a vast, complicated and nearly heartbreaking topic. I turned to people in my life for support, and with their encouragement I was able to give myself Grace and take a more hopeful approach with this project. This experience reminded me of the Importance of being mindful of your own mental health, supporting others, and building community.
This panel has an emphasis on mental health because of my passion for art therapy. I chose to include gun control, accessible mental health care, teaching empathy, and building community as my “gardening tools”. With access to these tools, we can come together to grow a better future. Despite all the negative or difficult feelings I have around gun violence, I still believe that things CAN change and that we CAN make a difference. TOGETHER!
